A 21-year-old woman, Zintle Xabanisa Jonase, was r@ped and m@rdered by unknown persons in Cape Town, South Africa.
Advocacy group, Women For Change, in a statement on Monday, July 22, 2024, said Zintle’s half-nal@ked body was found in mud puddles in Kraaifontein, on 7 July.
The deceased was seen walking through Bloekombos the evening before murder.
A community leader, Gavin Riddles, said the deceased had been st@bbed while her eyes were swollen shut.
“Zintle’s half-naked body was discovered in a puddle of water between houses at a new housing development in Bloekombos by churchgoers. It is alleged that Zintle was r@ped before she was m@rdered,” Women For Change says.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of such a beautiful soul. Fly high, Sister.”
The deceased was laid to rest on Saturday, July 20.
Continuing, Gavin said this is the second murder in the community.
“The previous murder also took place in the dark of night. People are now living in fear and we are asking authorities to intervene even if they can just install temporary street lights,” he said.
“People are fearing leaving their homes in the morning or at night, crime has become rife here. We also want to request the police to do more patrols here, and we ask residents to work with police to eradicate crime and make the area safe.”
